J K Brown of Curryville Dies Friday
Funeral Services Held At Home Near Curryville Sunday.

After months of suffering, J. K. Brown died early Friday morning, April 30 1937 at the age of 70 years 5 months and 18 days.
Born about 1867, he was the fourth son of the late William Renny and Elizabeth Sisson
On March 18 1896, Mr. Brown was united in marriage to Miss Maggie Holman, only daughter of Mrs. Kate Holman.
His wife, Maggie, mother in law, Mrs. Kate Holman; four brothers: Joe Brown of Center, E. E. Brown, T. T. Brown, Everett Brown of Curryville: two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Neville and Miss Ona Brown, and a number of nieces and nephews are left to mourn.
Funeral services were conducted in the home, Sunday afternoon by Rec. T. S. Matthews in the presence of a large crowd. Music was furnished by a quartette composed of R. K. Rose, Mr. And Mrs. Ralph Derrick and A. L. Kilby with Mrs. Kilby, pianist.
Casket bearers were: A.H. Harrelson, George Harrison. J. O. Kindred, J. E. Tinker. Harold Gash, and R. K. Rose. 
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents.

J. K. Brown of Curryville Dies Friday
Funeral Services Held at Home Near Curryville Sunday

After many months of suffering, J.K. Brown, passed away early Friday morning April 30, 1937. at the age of 70 years, five months and 18 days. Mr. Brown was the fourth son of the late Wm. Renny and Elizabeth Sisson Brown.

November 25, 1883, under the preaching of Rev, Alonzo Pearson, he became converted and united with with the Mt. Air Presbyterian Church, where he has always been a faithful member and was an elder for a number of years.

On March 18, 1896, Mr. Brown was united in marriage to Miss Maggie Holman, only daughter of Mrs. Kate Holman.

Until last summer Mr. Brown had always been an active farmer and stockman. In October he became so ill, it was necessary for him to to enter a hospital. For a while he seemed to improve, but finally grew weaker and he answered the summons "come home."

The devoted wife and mother-in-law, Mrs. Holman: four brothers, Joe Brown of Center, E.E. Brown, T.F. Brown, Everett Brown of Curryville: two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Neville and Miss Ona Brown, and a number of nieces and nephews are left to mourn.

Funeral services were conducted in the home, Sunday afternoon by Rev. T.S. Matthews in the presence of a large crowd of sympathizing relatives and friends. The music was furnished by a quartette composed of R.K. Rose, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Derrick and A.L. Kilby with Mrs. Kilby pianist.

Casket bearers were: A.H. Harrelson, George Harrison, J.G. Kindred, J.E. Kindred, J.E. Tinker, Harold Cash and R.K. Rose. Many beautiful flowers were silent testimonials of the deepest sympathy for the living and respect for the departed one.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents , one brother and four sisters.

Among those from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Ida Harrington of Illinois, Misses Belva, Maud and Lucile Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Dalton Brown of Mexico, B.J. Brown and son, Wm. of Center, Mrs. Edith Brown, Mrs, Lola Bland, Miss Bess Brown, Miss Villa McCune, Mrs. Emma Barbee, Mrs. Frank Davis, Mrs. George Freels and daughter, Mrs. Adderton of Vandalia, Mr. and Mrs. Jarve Douglass, Miss Belle Douglass, Mr. and Mrs. Graves and daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Ficken, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Holman, Mr. and Mrs. George Haden, Mrs. Ada Haden, Payne Holman, Mrs. Roy Ruffin of Frankford, Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Chamberlain and daughter, Betty of St. Louis, Rev. and Mrs. T.S. Matthews of Bowling Green.

The body was laid to rest in the Curryville cemetery over which the lovely flowers were gently placed. May the Father, who doeth all things well, comfort those who are so sadly bereft.
