CONDUCT MRS. LENA W. BENNING SERVICES 
SUNDAY AFTERNOON

Funeral services for Mrs. Lena Weathers Davis Benning 85, a life long resident of Louisiana, were held at 2;30 P.M. Sunday in the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Davis Benning, 421 North Main. Rev. David E. Fields, officiated, assisted by Rev. Bill Riggs.

Mrs. Benning, who lived in one of the Rule apartments on North Third, died at 12:05 A.M. Saturday at the Pike County Hospital, where she had been a patient since Easter Sunday. She had enjoyed fairly good health until mid-February.

The deceased was born October 23, 1874, in Louisiana to Evan J. and Melissa Angle Davis. She graduated from Louisiana High School in the spring of 1893 and that fall married Olaus Patri (Ollie) Benning.

Her husband was in the grocery business here for nearly 50 years and was a judge of the county court for six years. he died in 1934.

Mrs. Benning was a member of Centenary Methodist Church, was active in the Past Matrons Club for 50 years, and had belonged to the Century club for many years.

Survivors are one son, Davis Benning of Louisiana: one sister Mrs. Margaret Radford of Dallas, Texas; two grandsons, Pat and John Benning of Louisiana; and two great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband; a son, who died in infancy; and a brother, Evan J. Davis who died in 1950 in Hannibal.

During the Sunday funeral in the Benning home, Mrs. Gerald Kritz sang, The Old Rugged Cross". accompanied at the piano by Mrs. R. F. Randall.

Burial was in the family lot in Riverview Cemetery in Louisiana, Mo. Pallbearers were: Rufus Angle, Evan Angle, Cleve Pribe, Norman McCune, Steven Cornish and Tom Cornish.

Collier Funeral Home had charge of funeral arrangements.
