Mrs. Sarah J. Buchanan

After a lingering illness Mrs. Sarah Buchanan departed this life at the residence of her daughter Mrs. Ovid Scholl at about seven o'clock Tuesday evening November 26, surrounded by loved ones who had administered to her every wish.  Deceased was a patient sufferer and had at the age of eleven years put her trust in Jesus and by her faith in His love and care was able to bear her sufferings until the end.  The funeral was held at the School residence at 10 a.m., Thursday morning by Rev. Biggs, the interment following at the city cemetery.

Deceased was born in Kentucky, June 24, 1840.  She came with her parents to Pike county in her young girlhood and united with the Baptist church at Middletown at the age of eleven and remained a steadfast member until death.  Her maiden name was Sarah Dugan, and in 1859 she was married at Montgomery to Wm. B. Buchanan who died in this city about six years ago.  She leaves five children to mourn her loss: Lloyd Buchanan, and Mrs. Ovid Scholl of Clarksville; Mrs. Geo. Hudson of Corso, Mrs. Richard Sidwell, of Dover; and W. J.
