An Old Citizen

The death of John C Headricks at Shelbyville Sunday removes another one of the old settlers of Pike. He was a son of John Headric,, who came to this county in the 30’s. There were five brothers, John, Jacob, Peter, James and Tillman, all of whom are now dead, except the latter. There are four sisters, Mrs. Mary Wallace of this city, Mrs. Marion Benning of Windser, Mrs. Angie Roberts of Cherry Box, MO and Mrs. Frances Martin, of New Harmony, all of whom are living.

Mr. Headrick left four sons, Harry of St Louis, Edgar of this city and J.T. and Byrom (Byron), who lived with him. One daughter, Mr Sam Houshins of Grassy Greek survives him. 

He suffered for years with stomach trouble, but had grown much better and was just preparing to drive overland from Shelbyville to this county on a visit Thursday caused by over exertion and heart trouble resulted and he died Sunday. His age was 62 years 1 month and 4 days. 

 

Deaths

John C Headrick, formerly of Grassy Creek, died at Shelbyville on Saturday morning at 2:00 o’clock of inflammation of the stomach at the age of 62 years and 8 months.
