W. G. Martin

William G. Martin, Jr., aged 65 years, died at the home of his niece, Mrs. Claude Alderson, on Thursday morning, July 10, 1930. He had, for a long time, been a sufferer from asthma, but his death came suddenly, and was a shock to his relatives and many friends.

William G. Martin, Jr., was born in Montgomery County, January 8, 1865, and virtually spent the whole of his lifetime in the community where he was born. He was upright, honest and highly respected by all who knew him. Everybody seemed to like "Billy Martin", as his intimates, nearly all called him.

For ten years, he was a member of the County Court, six of those years, he was Presiding Judge. It can be said that his official acts were all conscientiously conceived and executed.

He is survived by one sister, Mrs. W. O. Williams, and one brother, Charley R. Martin, both residing in the neighborhood of the old Martin homestead; also 12 nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Alderson, at 1:30 o'clock p.m., Friday, July 11, Rev. S. E. McDonald officiating. Interment was at Wellsville Cemetery.
