Green Times, Ella Price McCune died June 27, 1950. Mrs. Ella Price McCune highly respected Bowling Green resident, widow of Jeff T. McCune departed this life early Tuesday a.m. June 27, at Pike County Hospital after a long illness. She was born in Buffalo township near _____ of Wm Henry & Mary Jane Griffith Price. Her mother died when she was 12 and thereafter made her home with an Aunt, Mrs. Lou Blaine Duncan of whom she was reared and loved as though she was a daughter. On April 4, 1900 she was united in marriage in Bowling Green to Jeff T. McCune a well and favorably known local businessman; Rev. Alonzo Pearson officiating. Mr. McCune died in 1945. After their marriage, Mr. & Mrs. McCune continued their residence in this city and were among our leading citizens. Mrs. McCune was a faithful and devoted member of the local Presbyterian Church and made possible through her many charitable acts, additions and improvements to the church of her choice. She, but recently donated a seven piece pulpit set which as well as the recent addition to the church, made possible largely through her assistance, will remain as a monument to her philanthropies. She was active in social groups, being a member of the P.E.O. organization, the D.A.R., and at one time a member of the now, discontinued Shakesperian Club. In each of the organizations she had through the years, been a leading factor in their growth and progress. She lived true to the tenets of her religion & was known for her many womanly virtues. She is survived by a brother, Hugh Price, Wadsworth, KS, and a number of other relatives and a host of friends. She was lying in state at her home, which she loved so much, at 412 N. High St., after having been removed from Bankheads Funeral Home until the hours of services which was conducted at the First Presbyterian Church by her pastor, Rev. W.G. Mitchell, Wed. p.m. June 28 with interment in the Bowling Green Cemetery beside her helpmate of nearly a half century who preceded to the Great Beyond. During the services Mrs. Edna Campbell presided at the organ. The many flowers were a tribute to the love and esteem in which she was held by loved ones and friends. The casket bearers were Earl Benton Bitt, W.A. Meyer, Walt Hickman, Robert Henry, Herbert Fisher, and J. D. Clemens. We extend sympathy to the bereaved family members and friends. Among those from out of town who attended were, Miss Villa McCune, Vandalia, Guy McCune & son, Greenville, IL, Mr. & Mrs. Malcolm Duncan of Tulsa and Mrs. M. H. Campbell and daughter Gladys of St. Louis. Obituary from The Bowling
