Pike County Obituaries
James Moore

Obituary from The Louisiana Press Journal
Louisiana, MO
October 8, 1864:

An Old Patriot Gone

Died on the 22nd ultimo. at the residence of his son. L.S. (Levi Shelhorse) Moore. in this county, Mr James Moore in the 85th year of his age.

Mr Moore was in the War of 1812 and served his county faithfully in that war. He came to Missouri in 1810, while it was as yet a Territory and has lived here ever since. Thus one by one, the links which connect the present generation with that of the past are broken. Soon death will claim them all. The record of Mr Moore's life engraven upon the hearts of his friends is his best eulogy. Source: Natural Archives Bountyland File Act of 1855, 120 acres WT 92325
