Mrs. John Moore

Mrs. Sarah D. Wilhelm Moore, departed this life Jan. 18, 1915 at her home on the gravel road about midnight, Louisiana and Bowling Green, at the advanced age of 83 years, 2 months and 27 days. Her native state was Ohio, having been born in Portsmouth, Sioto County, Oct. 22, 1831. She belonged to a family of six children.

At about 21 years of age, on Sept. 20, 1852, she was married to Mr. John Moore. To this union seven children were born, six sons and one daughter —only four of whom are living to mourn the loss: of a mother, viz Thomas R., of Louisiana, Mo., Herschel, of Louisiana, Mo., William D., of St. Joseph, Mo., and Mrs. Annie B. McCormick, of Longmont, Colo.

The three deceased children are Jacob W. of Bowling Green, Mo., George of Louisiana, Mo., and Charles Fay, of Manila, Philippine Islands. The husband and father departed this life eleven years ago, Feb. 14, 1903.

Grandmother Moore was highly respected and honored in the community in which she lived for so many years. Her Christian life and character was never doubted. She made a profession of her faith in Christ when quite young, hence a long life of devotion to her Master.

She was one of the charter members of the Providence Presbyterian church and was a regular attendant on the services at that place. During her last sickness she quoted Rev. 21:4, “And God Shall Wipe Away all Tears From Their Eyes, Etc.”

This Scripture was the subject of her funeral service, held in her home, in the presence of a large concourse of relatives, neighbors and friends, after which her mortal remains was laid to rest by the side of her husband in Bethany Cemetery.

“Rest weary heart,
From all thy silent griefs and secret pain.
Rest, sweetly rest.” R. 0. E.
