NOTES
1 Edward M. Wheeler and Barbara Ann Roberson Wheeler are listed, next to their daughter, Mary Catherine Wheeler Bartlett and Samuel Coan Wheeler. Their son is misnamed on the census transcription. His name is actually Walter Bartlett. He moved with his parents, grandmother, and at least one aunt, Stacy Wheeler, in about 1875, first to Texas, then to Sumner County, KS. Walter received his medical degree from the medical school that later became the Washington University in St. Louis Medical School. Walter was a physician in Belle Plaine, Sumner County, KS, about 20 miles south of Wichita, KS. He founded the Bartlett Arboretum, which can be found online at http://www.bartlettarboretum.com/.
