I am trying to find some information on Francis Marion Wilkins, father of Frederick Daniel Wilkins (longtime resident of Louisiana, Missouri). His father should be Hugh Bonar Wilkins (Todd County, Kentucky); his name appears as a son of Hugh Bonar in the Todd County records. But all the Web lists that show Hugh Bonar's children show no Francis Marion. He would be my great-grandfather. If you can give me any hints for research, I'd be very grateful.

I am seeking any info AT ALL that any of you may have on families of PITT and HINTON in Pike co MO in early to mid 1800's.

Here is some of what I have.  The first PITT family are my ancestors through their daughter Margaret.  This PITT family immigrated from England.  I do not know who the father of Joseph is or when they came to America.

1850 in Pike Co, MO which is next to Ralls Co:

Joseph Pitt, 42, Eng Rachel(HINTON), 50, KY(married in Lincoln co MO, 3-24-1831-note that she was 31 at the time of this marriage so HINTON may have been her married name) Margaret A., 17, MO(married 1st John FOWLER 3-31-1851 in Pike co, married 2nd George SIFERS(my ancestor) 3-1-1858 in Ralls co MO) William, 16, MO John H., 14, MO Joseph J., 12, MO

They following names are listed in the index of the Pike County history, "Pike County Missouri, People Places and Pikers:

PITT, Joseph, pg 232
Margaret, pg 232
Martha, pg 232, 233
Thomas, pg 232
William, pg 232, 233

All were listed as members of the Frankford First >>> Christian Church.  William and Martha (Dunkum) Pitt died in 1876 and 1888 respectively.

PITT, Margaret is living with her son Thomas in 1840 and 1850 Pike co census. It appears that she was born in England abt 1777.  Is there any info available such as wills or tax lists that could identify the first name of her husband who must have died before 1840?

Richard B. Brice XJDG86A@prodigy.com

I am researching all the Brice's in Pike County, Missouri.

My G-Grandfather was Benoni Brice b: 1815 in KY.  He married Elizabeth Hammond on 13 July, 1837, in Pike County, MO.  They had the following children:

  1. Armildea Ann b: 1839, married Mart Childress   2. Nathanial Porter Brice b: 1840, Killed in Civil War, Battle of Champions Hill, Mississippi, May 16, 1862   3. John Jacob b: 1841, moved to Witchita Falls, TX. in 1870   4. William Hugh b: 1847, my Grandfather   5. George A. b: 1849, have nothing on him   6. Sarah O. b: 1852,     "      '           "  her   7. James J. b: 1851,    have nothing on him   8. Jarvis b: ?   9. Joseph b: 1858 , nothing 10. Nancy b: 1860,     "

I would like information on any of the children of Benoni Brice and wife Elizabeth.  Also, Benoni father died in 1870 in Pike Co. at the age of 80 years.  Benoni and wife Elizabeth must have moved someplace after John J. died.  I have looked in about every State via the Soundex on the 1880 census and have not been able to locate either of them.

The father of Benoni Brice was John J. Brice who lived in Pena Twp. in Pike CO. and died in 1870. His first wife was Susan Porter.  His second wife was Louisa A. Baskett,  they were married in Ralls Co. on May 9, 1849.

On the 1850 census there was a Samuel BRICE living in the adjacent dwelling to John J. Brice.  Does anyone have any information as to who this Samuel BRICE was and also who were his parents?

Gary B. Moore GaryBMoore@aol.com

I am looking for a Martin MOORE. According to the information I have , he married Martha Gutherie in Pike County, MO in 1835. I saw the name in a list of Moore's for Pike County in 1850. I am attempting to connect him to my great-grandfather, George Washington Moore. George's death certificate lists Martin Moore as his father. George may have been born in Pike County in 1844. The family moved to Kansas when George was a child and both of his parents probably died there. George moved back to Nodaway County, MO to live with his mother's family, the Gutheries. If anyone has a Martin Moore, or Martha Gutherie in their line, please e-mail me at GaryBMoore@aol.com. Your help would be appreciated.
