Jordan Wed Aug 27 17:32:27 1997 Yes, I'm doing the family history of my family. I am researching any possible knowledge of decendants of Asa C. Stewart who lived in Louisiana Missouri around the end of the 1800s. He was married to Sarah Johnson, I believe that they both came originally from Ohio. I know around 1890 they had a golden wedding anniversary. He worked for a cleaner or something. His daughter Therese Stewart in 1876 married John Carson Jordan also from the area. They had a daughter by the name of Sara Marie Jordan born around 1884 and they before 1890 moved to Denver Colorado where some of their decendants my grandfather and his kids live. I would like any possible family tree links, dates, or information |

Patton Tue May 13 22:43:25 1997 Looking in Pike County for my Great Grandfather, Will Patton. He was 13 around the Civil War. Father fought with the Confederates. Came across him in a book; Miss Anna, copyright 1967 by Broland Publishing. Library of Congress Calalogue number is 67-30779. In the end of the book Anna meets Will and they are eventually marry. He mentions that Union soldiers took him prisoner from the family farm in Pike County when he was 13. They forced him to walk between two mounts (cavalry perhaps?). He apparently used the opportunity to spy for the CSA. Eventually escaped and warned the Confederate forces of Union plans for an attack. Do you have records of a Patton family that owned land in Pike County, MO and farmed that land around the time of the War? Is there a record of any Union or Confederate activity in Pike County or close by? |

Subject: SARAH GORIN of Louisiana, Pike, MO. Date: Sat, 27 Jul 1996 19:06:51 -0400 From: Sandi Gorin Last query ... same husband. Something happened to Sarah Oakes. So again, Dr Bartley William Gorin married yet a 3rd time in Louisiana, Pike MO to one Sarah GORIN. They divorced 14 Mar 1849 there. There are no "unclaimed" Gorin's there ... my only thought is that possibly Dr Gorin divorced Sarah Oakes of previous marriage and re-married her later. Sarak Oakes children are buried in the family plot, there is no Sarah Oakes or Sarah Gorin buried there - just his firt wife. If anyone has ANY information of who this next wife could be, would really appreciate it ... he was a good man, but he sure did marry a lot! His last wife was Elizabeth Coulter, another widow but I'm not ready to tackle them yet!
